St. Paul's Cathedral from across the Millennium Bridge

St. Paul's Cathedral, London at night

It's not often I include my iPhone footage when updating my photoblog, but I had to include this shot of St. Paul's Cathedral at night.

La Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, Torrevieja

La Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús (or Sacred Heart of Jesus church) is a strikingly modern building in the centre of Torrevieja. I nver got to investigate the interior, because we were on a fleeting trip through the plaza in which it's situated, but the building itself is gorgeous.

Sacred Heart Church, Omagh

A photo of Sacred Heart Church in Omagh - we spent some time there a couple of years back and I got this picture. I've given it a slight boost in Photoshop.

Here's a bit more information about the church:

St Ann's Church, Dawson Street, Dublin

St Ann's Church, Dawson Street, Dublin

Lisa and I took a couple of days off last week and went to Dublin. We did the shameless tourist thing and took one of those guided bus tours around the city. You may laugh, but it's a great way to get acquainted with the city and you don't wear out your feet in the first few hours.

The Royal Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula

The Royal Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula, London

This is a picture of the Royal Chapel of St Peter Ad Vincula, which is located in a picturesque corner of the Tower of London.

An innocuous-looking building, it's a real joy to behold from the inside. On the day we visited, there was a soft light coming through the windows and illuminating the altar. It's an almost romantic setting...if you ignore the fact that underneath the floors are the bodies of three Queens of England and a number of Dukes and Lords of the kingdom too. Most of them beheaded, naturally.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu, Gozo

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu, Gozo

The shrine of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu is located on the island of Gozo, a short ferry journey from Malta. It is located just outside the village of Gharb.

We traveled there by coach in the autumn of 2000. The inside of the basillica is extremely quiet and serene, and visitors are asked to cover up exposed flesh while inside - I think Lisa was provided with a wrap to cover her legs on the day (she was wearing shorts). It was quite nice to see the observation of old traditions back then, something which came across a lot during our visit to Malta.

Church?

This is what looks like a church building which is near to the Charles Bridge in Prague. From memory they were carrying out a Spanish guitar recital inside the day we were there.

Note to tourists with a Subway fetish: Continue along the road to the left of the church building for about five minutes and you'll come across a Subway. If it's as cold in Prague as it was the day we were there, you'll need a coffee to get thawed out.

Interior Of Prague Cathedral, Part 2

This is a slightly more dramatic shot of the interior. The funny thing - if you can call it funny - is that you could only get a clear shot if you were looking up. The Cathedral was jam packed with tourists wandering around and it made it very difficult to get a clear shot. I don't remember it being this busy in the Vatican a couple of years ago.

Eventually I got tired of taking shots. A combination of feeling bored, tired and antipathy toward more church art. Of course I missed some great photo ops at the same time.

Interior Of Prague Cathedral

This looks a little bit blurry, but it's a shot from the very back of the Cathedral looking toward the altar and the stained glass windows above. I did try to enhance the photo, but this is the best I could get.

St Vitus' Cathedral From The Side

Here's a picture of St Vitus' Cathedral that I took from the courtyard. It's such an enormous building, and the other parts of Prague Castle are so cramped on top of it, you'd almost think it'd been airlifted in. Well, sort of.
